Developers: it’s time to retrain your minds. The best solutions sometimes aren’t the most technical or eloquent, but are the strategies that perform a precise role with as little re-engineering as possible. Trusting and empowering designers to build to specification will generate a faster workflow, create less stress for future re-purposing, and—most importantly—give you a better looking result. Keep that frame of mind as you create all of your work, even if you wear two hats and are responsible for both design and development.

Petty Update

10Apr09

Hey Now.

My second year of school is coming to a closing point. Times are super busy, and super exciting. I’m not entirely sure what this summer brings, but I am in the process of looking for jobs in the Interactive field.

In approximately 2 weeks, I’m FINALLY going to showcase my work to the public. I hope you stop by and take a gander through my various archives.

Take care of yourselves,
Joel.

I almost thought myself this blog went to the shitter. Nah, in fact I didn’t forget about it, I’ve just been madd-busy (and super lazy). At the moment I’ve got a few BIG projects on the go: A flash interface designed for an Apple iPod product(s) demo, and a campaign design (hopefully for a new local radio station). When both of those projects are complete, I fully plan to manage some time in filling spots here with a detailed showcase of what’s actually been going on in my life.

Peace.

Another side note:

This is my love for Mac Lethal. Night-after-night I sit in-front of my computers, designing and listening to music. Every time Mac shows up on shuffle, he gives me more and more to think about. Sure, sure you can always find a bunch of negative shit about revolutionists, but it’s more than that with this dude. His observations are so blunt, so obvious, but yet most of us are so fucking blind.

 * Point is – I’m really inspired by his material. I highly suggest you check him out.

Shit’s been droppin’ left right and center – I’ve never been this busy, work has never been piled so high. I plan to post multiple recents by the end of next week. I’ve been really inspired lately, trying my best to write as many ideas on paper as possible – I can’t afford to loose this gold. In due time, the goodies shall reveal.

Adieu,
Joel.

A project from first semester. The purpose was to create a interactive PDF. The document was to have an intro/welcome page and one page for each subject I had in that term for Multimedia Design. Each subject page had to consist of: a self-designed vector icon/graphic that represents the subject, text describing the benefits of the subject, and other graphic elements that are needed to complete the interface design and navigation.

Pro03

I didn’t put much time into creating this project. I really don’t like it a whole, but It definitely gave me a hell of a lot more ideas on how to create a well structured PDF Presentation.

I’ve recently switched blog-host from Blogger to WordPress for obvious comforting reasons. I’m still working out the kinks, adding needed information, and doing what I can with what time I have. I’m back in school; expect an update weekly.

Cheers!

While being on my Holiday Season vacation, I had a chance to head out for a back country snow session with an old talented friend, and what a treat it was. For the unfamiliar, Tyler is an outdoors-man with a unique blend of every season, a dude with a never ending smile which carries him great distance, and most distinguishable to the fair group, his uttermost unconventional brain-set that boosts him over and beyond the traditional limits. Before I had even reached the hill, Spencer had already been there tools and all, with gorgeous booter ready to go. Immediately after showing up on the scene, bangers were perfected, photos were shot, and an awesome start to the 2007/2008 season had begun.

Here are a few images; they’re not the prettiest, but it gives you an idea of what this break is going to bring, and the material that’s heavily gonna stack in my dorm. Here’s to Sacky’s, here’s to a great time with Ty, and most of all to the beginning of a beautiful season.

Thanks for checking this page out, a lot of work is still to be done, only in due time. I’ll be hitting a few resorts this week, expect more updates!

Peace,
Joel.
